The Runners Club has been operating for many years, originally part of Fitness Warehouse way back in the 90s but in later years, it b ecame know as the Body Balance runs.
Now Gecko Outdoor Sports have been hosting the social exercise event which takes place every Saturday morning at 6.15am at a different location.
Last week, 22 health enthusiasts pounded the pavement and bush areas after meeting at the Overlander carpark.
Gecko Outdoor Sports Runner Alison Whitehead said they mostly run out bush but always meet at a place where it’s easy to leave from.
“We have all sorts of fitness levels and the best thing about our club is no-one is ever left behind,” Whitehead said.
“The faster runs may finish quicker but they run back to the slower ones and we all stick together.”
The social runners club enjoy both aspects of sport – the fitness and the social aspect.
“After each run we head to Macca’s for a coffee and chat.”
Next Saturday they will be leaving from McDonalds.
