The students participated in activities and were given ideas for putting together their itinerary by World Challenge organiser Alison Whitehead.
Ms Whitehead said the students decide on the itinerary, so my job is to ensure they know what their choices are.
The students discussed what they had researched about Malaysia, and how long they were going to spend there, where to go, and time to travel between places.
Adventurer Jade King said the world challenge is a good opportunity to give people who don't live in the cities more opportunities than we would normally get.
"It's about finding the people who want to get out there and explore the world, I'm a loud person but I'm also very closed off so to be able to do new things and to be confident in my abilities would be very nice," Ms King said.
Ms King said going to a new country would be exciting and she would like to have the opportunity to help in the area of education while visiting Malaysia.
"They said during the meeting that the schools don't get much help from the government."
Spinifex State College student Frank Moro, the only male in the team said although the World Challenge is cool, it sounds like they would be kept very busy.
"I researched some of the things we can do in Malaysia and found a national park that's over 130 million years old, that would be great to explore," Mr Moro.
"I think travelling overseas will help me put things into perspective and help me see the things we take for granted over here in Australia."
