In Mount Isa Magistrates Court Friday, 36-year-old Shane Michael Parkes has plead guilty to the dangerous operation of a jet ski causing the death of his nine-year-old son Tobi Parkes at Lake Moondarra in 2016.
The court had previously heard Parkes, who owned a jumping castle business, used drugs before driving the jet ski at the Lake Moondarra junction on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
Parkes crashed the jet ski hitting the boy who was standing by the edge of the lake.
The case dragged on for two and half years with numerous adjournments, delays which a magistrate in 2018 found "disturbing".
Parkes was sentenced to 2.5 years jail and eligible for parole in November 2020.
