Doomadgee Police charged a 25-year-old man after a quantity of liquor was allegedly discovered during a vehicle stop Sunday.

The Doomadgee man was charged with possession of prohibited liquor in a restricted area and his vehicle was seized. Police will allege they located six cartoons of beer and four bottles of spirits. The man is due to appear inthe Doomadgee Magistrates Court on March 3.
Doomadgee is a declared restricted area in accordance with the Schedule 1B of the Liquor Regulation 2002.
An Alcohol Management Plan is operational in relation to the Doomadgee Aboriginal Community. In accordance with the Liquor Act and Regulations, vehicles and persons located within the Doomadgee Community are restricted to possessing 22.5 litres (2 cartons – 60 x 375 ml cans) of beer with an alcohol content of less than 4 per cent. No other liquor is permitted.
Police want to remind people who travel in and out of areas that persons found to be committing this offence will be charged and can potentially have their vehicle taken for a period of time.
