Hosting their first race meeting of the 2019 season, Mount Isa Race Club have organised a beached themed family day for locals.
Gates will open at 11am with the five race schedule starting at 2pm.
Mount Isa Race Club president Mick Tully said the day would include music, food vans, giveaways, snow cones and slip and slides for the kids.
"This summer race meeting is really for the whole family to get out and enjoy the start of the social season," Mr Tully said.
"We are expecting good local attendance for the event, having plenty of activities for the whole family."
Following the North West flood event, there remains some wounds to the racing industry with some local racehorse owners feeling the pressure.
"There were a few racehorse owners who did not have their horses ready in time for this weekend's races," Mr Tully said.
"I did try to have this meeting postponed, but Queensland Racing said there was no other available weekend until late June and we didn't want to forefeit the meeting because it is our revenue for the club.
"So we continued with this date hoping it will provide a social weekend for the region and hopefully people affected can come enjoy a day at the races.
"Races are a great social event for the region with owners and trainers coming from across the North West as far as McKinlay, Kynuna and Winton."
Mr Tully said Mount Isa Race Club committee were looking forward to a big race season this year.
"We are expecting a large race season this year after hosting a working bee on the weekend with many in attendance," he said.
"We had a fair few people help tidy the grounds up following our off season. Freshened the grounds up with a lick of paint, pruning the hedges and getting ready for our events."
Following the Beach Party Race Day will be the St Patrick's Race Day held on Saturday March 16.
