The Barkly Highway between Cloncurry and Mount Isa has re-opened under traffic control following Tuesday's fatal accident.
Queensland Traffic Control put the up at 8am to say emergency roadworks were in place with lanes reduced.
It follows a fatal crash when a road train and a ute collided on the Barkly Highway around 40km west of Cloncurry at 4.50pm Tuesday.
The driver of the truck, a 32-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the ute, a 48-year-old man, was transported to Mount Isa Hospital for treatment minor injuries.
The road was closed for 15 hours following the crash.

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon (March 12) near Cloncurry.
Initial investigations suggest that a road train and a ute collided on the Barkly Highway around 40km west of Cloncurry at 4.50pm.
The driver of the truck, a 32-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the ute, a 48-year-old man, was transported to Mount Isa Hospital for treatment minor injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
The Barkly Highway remains closed Wednesday morning, and police are hoping to reopen the highway this morning (March 13).
There was a fatal accident involving a truck on the same stretch of highway almost a year ago.
On March 28, 2018 a truckie died when his vehicle collided head on with a car towing a caravan 10km west of Cloncurry.
A diesel truck also crashed on the Barkly near Cloncurry in July 2018 dumping fuel onto the highway but there were no injuries.
UPDATE: 11pm
A man aged in his forties, is recovering in hospital after he was injured in a motor vehicle crash involving a road train earlier today (March 12).
The Mount Isa-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was sent to the scene, west of Cloncurry, shortly before 5pm.
He was transported to Mount Isa Hospital with suspected spinal injuries in a stable condition.
The Barkly Highway was still listed as closed between Cloncurry and Mount Isa as at 8.40pm.
Bus Queensland's service BQ201 Brisbane to Mount Isa has terminated at Cloncurry due to the road closures.

The Barkly Highway between Cloncurry and Mount Isa is closed as emergency services deal with a serious vehicle accident.
The incident occurred late Tuesday afternoon 30km west of Cloncurry after reports of a crash involving a road train and a vehicle.
Both lanes are blocked and long delays are expected in both directions according to the latest information provided by the Traffic and Travel Information for Central and North West regions of Queensland Twitter account at around 5pm.
Multiple police crews and a large fire crew are on route to the scene of the crash.
There is no information available as to the possible cause of the accident yet or any reports of any injuries or deaths from the crash however a helicopter landed at Mount Isa hospital around 6.30pm.
