The evening raises much-needed funds for Ronald McDonald House North Queensland, based in Townville, which supports seriously ill children and their families.
Committee chairperson Kate Brewster said they have an amazing track record for increasing donations to Ronald McDonald House each year.
"This year we are hoping to exceed donations made towards the house in previous years.
Mrs Brewster and the committee will spend the next two days setting up the Lumen Christi Centre at Good Shepherd Catholic College, transforming it into an evening filled with enchantment and entertainment.
Despite many of the decorations being already in place, the theme of the ball is still yet to be revealed.
“It’s one of Mount Isa’s biggest secrets. It’s a tradition that we never reveal the theme until our guests arrive, it’s one of the things that makes the ball so fantastic- the suspense, speculation and the surprise.” Mrs Brewster said.
While still keeping her mouth firmly zipped, she can say that this year guests should expect to be transported to a different world, almost as if you were inside the pages of a book.
Mrs Brewster also said that there had been an overwhelming response from local businesses willing to support the event through sponsorship, donations for prizes and auctions and donations of their service.
“It’s great to have so much backing from our local businesses. I think living out here, everyone realises how much we need places like the Ronald McDonald House to help our families when they are in need.
We are so grateful to all of our sponsors, but in particular Linmar Cranes and Haulage, Shaine Hunter Locksmiths, Glencore Mount Isa Mines, Isadraulics, 2PH, Mount Isa Mining Supplies and McDonalds Mount Isa,” she said.
The committee are looking forward to a fantastic evening on Saturday March 16, and getting started on plans for the ball in 2020.
