The workers, both male and female, are involved in landscaping, painting, maintenance and horticulture improvements.
Rainbow Gateway Team Leader for Job Active Fia Leuluaialii and Underground Museum Volunteer Coordinator Erica Shaw collaborated last year on how the Job Active program could be utilised at the iconic Museum.
"We identified three different areas. One was at the Tent House where landscaping was required, another was the garden beds around the Beth Anderson Museum and finally the medicinal plants needed to be replanted along the path to the Underground Hospital," Ms Shaw said.
Ms Leulauialii said with Job Active the job seekers receive payment through CentreLink and as part of their mutual obligations they need to be participating in an activity.
The purpose of this program is for the job seeker to build their confidence, gain skills, work together in a team and on their own.
Ms Leuluaialii said throughout the program Rainbow Gateway help them to get work ready.
"Some of them gain employment during the program while others may gain employment once referrals are made, after the program."
With tourist season not far away the workers commenced landscaping three weeks ago and Ms Shaw said they have managed to complete more than they ever expected in such a short time.
"They completely exceeded our expectations," Ms Shaw said.
Job Seeker Patrick Madrill said he wanted to find a job to secure his future.
"You need to make an effort to get a job, so I decided to take control and do things for myself. This program keeps me motivated," Mr Madrill said.
"I've learned a lot here.
"My advice to job seekers is let the willingness come from inside you, make the best of yourself and don't hang back."
"Let the light shine in you - go for it," he said.
