Mount Isa SOTA Governess Group placed 72 lots up for sale through Auctions Plus, with bids taking place from Tuesday March 5-10.
Organiser and governess at Alroy Downs Station, NT, Maddie Staff, said herself and Tash Hodgson tripled their goal of $5000.
"The auction was a massive success in our eyes selling items to every state in Australia," Ms Staff said.
"The biggest lot auctioned was the Mystery Pack which sold for over $1000 to a buyer in New South Wales." This included an $800 donation of alcohol from The Buffs Club Mount Isa which included two Great Northern Eski with a carton in each, wine, Jack Daniels limited edition bottles; but also had skin care ranges, ear rings, clothing anything and everything.
"The amount of items donated was easily over 200, from businesses all around Australia."
Ms Staff and Ms Hodgson still remain in ore since the auction, and cannot believe the amount of money raised.
"The money had been deposited to the Mount Isa SOTA to start assisting flood affected families in the coming weeks," Ms Staff said.
"We are overwhelmed with the generosity of Australians. It so nice to see so many people to come together at such a hard time and support all the families in need - it was just unreal.
"It is such a great feeling as a lot of the people through School of the Air are our friends and colleagues, so nice to know we have been able to help them during this difficult time even in the smallest way.
"We have spoken to a lot of governesses and families are doing well and making use of what they have got, they have had support from other organisation which is unreal in helping them rebuild.
"Most families are back on their feet and have children back in school which is great to hear and this money will assist them further."
