Then head down to the Mount Isa PCYC on Monday April 1 at 10.30am for a free Senior Safety Information Session, presented by Mount Isa Police.
The presentation will discuss personal safety strategies, home security, dealing with intruders, vehicle security and online safety.
Sergeant Whitney Lacy said everyone had the right to feel safe and secure, whether in their own home or when participating in activities within their community.
"I hope the attendees walk away from this presentation feeling confident and more aware of the steps they can take, to keep themselves and their property protected," Sgt Lacy said.
The aim of this presentation is to offer more information on a number of topics, including:
* Personal Safety Strategies - staying safe when out and about e.g: when out walking, shopping, using public transport or an ATM.
* Home security - improving current security measures, dealing with unexpected or unwanted visitors/telemarketers and securing your house when going away on holidays.
* Intruders - What action to take if you find an intruder in your home, or you believe there may be one in your home
* Vehicle security - improving current security measures and safe driving
* Online safety & security - identifying and dealing with scams, keeping your identity protected
Department of Transport and Main Roads will also be speaking about medical certificate requirements and medical condition notifications for drivers aged 75 and over.
Bunnings are supporting the event and will have a display table, showcasing home security and assisted living products available in store.
