It is parkrun, the free timed 5km run or walk along Tharrapatha Way every Saturday at 7am that has grown from strength to strength since it began in Mount Isa last Easter.
Mount Isa parkrun event director Sarah Choyce said almost 800 people had registered with the local event.
"We've had 577 participants and 155 volunteers since we've started," Ms Choyce said.
"And that's our theme for our birthday, celebrating the contribution of our vollies."
And because parkrun volunteers wear orange bibs, those intending to come along for the birthday parkrun are invited to wear orange on the day.
Ms Choyce said she was involved with parkrun in Toowoomba before setting up the Isa one and loved the parkrun community.
"I joked before we moved here I would set one up and it was just about the timing," she said. "Our event ambassador Dale Murray used to live here and he helped us get Commonwealth Games legacy funding."
But it needed to be done quickly and with the help of council a course was quickly chosen along the riverside path and the first Mount Isa parkrun got underway at the end of March 2018.
Event ambassador Dale Murray will be back for the birthday run on March 30.
