At 5am Tuesday Trevor lies over the North West district near the Northern Territory border, 180km to the southwest of Mount Isa. A slow-moving surface trough extends from the low through parts of southwestern and central Queensland.
These systems are expected to interact with an upper trough to produce bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Damaging wind gusts are likely to continue over the northeastern flank of the low, however this threat will ease by late morning on Tuesday. The risk for thunderstorms with locally destructive wind gusts remains for areas north of Glenormiston and Boulia.
Widespread six-hourly rainfall totals between 75mm and 125mm are likely to continue developing within the warning area and extend east through Tuesday. Isolated heavier and intense rainfall totals in excess of 150mm are possible with thunderstorms between Urandangi and Bedourie.
Urandangi has had 132mm since 9am Monday.
For areas north of Glenormiston and Boulia, isolated damaging wind gusts up to 100km/h are likely until late morning on Tuesday. However, locally destructive wind gusts in excess of 125km/h are still possible with embedded thunderstorms into Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The low and associated surface trough will likely move slowly east. As a result, heavy rainfall will extend to the central interior, particularly during Wednesday and Thursday. A Flood Watch is current for the western Gulf Country, Channel Country, Central West and extending into the Warrego and Maranoa catchments.
Locations which may be affected include Longreach, Windorah, Isisford, Barcaldine, Boulia and Urandangi.
