The International Legends of League officially launched the Mount Isa game at Alec Inch Oval on May 18 when the Linmar Mount Isa Allstars take on the Australian Legends.
The Mount Isa (and Cloncurry) team features Broncos legend Scotty Prince along with Traeger MP Robbie Katter and Cr Tully and will also feature Paul Harkin, Dave Bartolo, David "Frog" Hudson, Charles Hill, Kerrod Gibson, Gavin Bunney, Cameron Conlan, Scott Kyle, Chris Thinee, Darren Munns, Brian Gull, Reg Nardoo and Tony Schaefer.
They will be coached by Mount Isa Foley Shield legends Frank and Vern Daisy.
On the Australian side are Matt Bowen, Chris Walker, Peter Gill, Nathan Blacklock, John Hopoate, Noel Goldthorpe, Willie Tonga, John Doyle, Bryan Neibling, Craig Teevan, Ben Hannant, Terry Matterson, Kevin Campion, Stu Kelly, Ashley Harrison, Kerry Boustead and Craig Wilson.
The event is set to be one of the biggest sporting events on Mount Isa's calendar this year.
International Legends of League event organiser and former Brisbane Broncos player Craig Teevan said the Alec Inch Oval renovations to the grandstand are expected to be completed before the match in May.
"We are expecting more than 5000 people to attend," Teevan said.
Players will arrive in Mount Isa during the week of the game for community events and school visits, talking about anti-bullying and mental health and to deliver messages of "dream, believe, achieve" to all Mount Isa primary school students, as well as Spinifex State College junior campus students.
A corporate day will be held on Friday, May 17, with all players and corporate partners, including a bowls day, followed by dinner at the Buffs Club to celebrate the event and both teams on stage.
There are also plans for juniors', seniors' and women's games before the main match.
Mount Isa City Council Mayor Joyce McCulloch said all of the proceeds from the event would be shared between the rugby league teams in town, so everything will be going back into the community and support local footy clubs.
