Twelve positions are currently available with the Mount Isa auxiliary and interested persons for the part time positions are encouraged to enquire and join.
Mount Isa Fire and Emergency Service auxiliary captain Gordon Graham said the positions were to support the permanent crew in operations.
"The auxiliary helps the permanent team when major fires or instances occur in Mount Isa," Cpt Graham said.
"Due to work changes and people leaving Mount Isa we are desperately looking for 12 recruits.
"All recruits will receive two week paid training and can be male or females between the ages of 18 years to 65 and must be physically capable of doing the job."
Cpt Graham said there were many benefits in joining the auxiliary.
"Interest we have from people joining is that they can help the community in times of need," he said.
"It also gives people a sense of achievement in accreditation for road crash rescue, vertical rescue, swift water rescue and firefighting techniques that will assist them in a work environment but also everyday life."
Cpt Graham said there was also the opportunity to progress in the career and become more certified with more training.
"You can move up the ranks to firefighter, lieutenant, to captain and also the opportunity to move up to a permanent firefighter," he said.
"There is also the opportunity to inter-transfer within the auxiliary stations within the state."
If you're interested in joining the Mount Isa Fire and Emergency Service auxiliary you can enroll at auxiliary training on every Tuesday night 6pm or Saturday mornings at 8am.
