Re-elected 2019 Commerce North West president Travis Crowther conducted the meeting, firstly by introducing the committee and board: vice president, Jennifer Termine-Toth of Andii Mihay Events, secretary, Danielle Burns of Hardrok Engineering, treasurer, Emma Harman of Hit102.5 and directors Chris Boshoff of Heavymech, Nigel Rieck of Mount Isa Airport, Karen Graham of The Buffs Club who was unable to attend, and Justine Cole of TAFE Queensland.
Mr Crowther said Commerce North West were continually increasing membership due to their proactive attitude in regional economic development, government relations, tourism growth and events management.
"Around two to three new members have been signing up on a regular basis."
"We are always encouraging more businesses to get involved, to make the most of what we can offer," he said.
Vice president of Commerce North West Jennifer Termine-Toth said this was our best turn out yet for a general meeting and business brewery.
"I feel like our membership base is building stronger and stronger, and we are exciting local businesses again with these unique networking events," Ms Termine-Toth said.
Every Wednesday Commerce North West members meet at different coffee shops throughout the City to network with one another.
"It's an informal gathering at 9.30am, emails are sent out on a Tuesday to let members know where the meet will be," she said.
Mr Crowther said the key event for the organisation was the biennial mining exhibition MineX which will be held at Buchanan park from May 31- June 1.
The expo offers the opportunities for businesses, contractors, consultants, services and corporate entities to rub shoulders and highlight just what makes them a stand out in the mining industry.
"There are only eight internal exhibiting spaces left, and a few outdoor sites."
The expo will have a lot of industry talks happening throughout the days and networking opportunities at night. It's really focused on core business promotion and that business to business relationship within the mining industry," he said.
Commerce North West have also secured seven official MineX speakers for the three days of the Expo.
The evening was hosted by the Ibis Styles Verona Mount Isa Hotel.
