A 28 year old Mount Isa man has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment following two charges in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Tuesday April 16.

The defendant was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and contravention of a domestic violence order.
The police prosecutor told the court that the defendant and victim were located at the Isa Hotel pokie room when an argument broke out between them.
The defendant hit the victim in the face, she fell to the bitumen and suffered grazes to her knee and face.
It was heard that the defendant had a 10-year relationship history with the victim.
It was noted in the court that the defendant had a significant 10-year history of violent behaviour.
Magistrate James Morton said to the defendant: "The courts have not been dealing with you properly.
"You're a relatively young person and you have a very relevant history.
"Your conduct is by far unacceptable and terms of imprisonment are warranted."
The Mount Isa man was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with a parole date of September 11.
A domestic violence order was also extended for five years.
