The Library will live stream two sessions in the Program room that afternoon - "Can You Spot a Liar?", from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, and "Ben Quilty: Home" from 3pm to 4pm.
They are both free to attend, and afternoon tea will be available. Bookings are preferable.
Prepare to be stimulated and engaged by conversations, debates and discussions, as the Festival brings the world's finest authors to Mount Isa in real time via digital live-streaming project, Live and Local.
As well as hearing new ideas from great thinkers, audiences have the opportunity to participate in Q&A sessions at each event, sending questions direct to the Sydney stage.
"Can You Spot a Liar?" is hosted by comedian Chris Taylor (The Chaser), who will speak to three people who detect lies for a living - crime and corruption reporter Matthew Condon, Gold Walkley-award-winning investigative journalist Kate McClymont, and forensic psychiatrist Dr Calum Smith.
They will reflect on the crimes they've solved, the scandals they've exposed and the discoveries they've made about the inner workings of the deceitful mind.
In "Ben Quilty: Home", Archibald Prize-winning artist Ben Quilty, in conversation with barrister and refugee advocate Julian Burnside QC, talks about Ben's book, "Home: Drawings by Syrian Children", a heart-breaking and awe-inspiring collection of artworks by the most vulnerable victims of a brutal civil war.
Ben talks with Julian about the book and his experiences collating it in refugee camps across Europe.
