Copper City Cycling Club president Je DiLegge comes from a famous cycling family in town and runs Mount Isa's only bike shop on Fifth Avenue, so he is well qualified to lead Mount Isa's premier cycling body and push a new membership drive.
Mr DiLegge said the club recently got a $5000 grant from Mount Isa City Council to purchase a trailer for come-and-try clinics and events.
"Thanks to Council, that trailer is going to assist our volunteers," Mr DiLegge said.
"We normally have a small crew of volunteers and we have to load up two or three cars with bollards and signs for racing."
Mr DiLegge said the trailer would make that a lot easier.
"We can have it all in one place and we just need someone with a towbar to pick it up and take it to whatever events we are going to," he said.
"It also means if we are going to races we can put bikes on it."
Mr DiLegge said the trailer will come in useful at the club's upcoming come and try day.
"We've got Sara Carrigan coming up, our Olympic medalist," he said.
Carrigan won gold for Australia in the 2004 women's road race in Athens and her appearance in Mount Isa is a coup for the club.

"She's a great rider and now she's a highly recommended coach with Cycling Australia," Mr DiLegge said.
"She's coming up to run a coaching clinic open to anyone, free for members and $20 for non-members."
The clinic is on Friday and Saturday May 10-11 with the classroom part in the Ibis Styles.
"Then on Sunday there is a come and try race at Buchanan Park car park," Mr DiLegge said.
"It will be fully blocked up and people can come down, have a chat and have a ride with coaches that have just been qualified."
The club is also looking at hosting a couple of events at the Glencore Great Western Games including a road race on June 22.
