Council said the road had a significant volume of caravan traffic during the tourist season and serves as an overflow drainage path during the wet season, but has reached the end of its service life.
They said the reprofiling would take two weeks and will involve diverting the surface stormwater flows, and a two-coat bitumen seal to the road.
Council said the work would cost $75,000 and the rehabilitation and widening works would reduce the level of annual maintenance required for the section of road, once it has been sealed.
