Police are reminding motorists, residents and visitors to secure their vehicles or risk losing them.
Acting Sergeant Aimee Sewell said opportunistic thieves can strike when vehicle doors and windows are left unsecured enabling easy access or where valuable items are left in plain view.
""Mount Isa Caravan Park managers are taking a proactive approach to ensure the safety of our visitors by promoting the "Lock it or Lose it" campaign.
"Each visitor will receive this important information in welcome packs on entry to their caravan park.
"However Police are requesting that all members of the community empower themselves by using these simply tips to minimise the risk of victimisation," she said.
Ms Sewell said it only takes minutes for an offender to grab wallets, handbags, garage remotes and other small expensive items from your insecure vehicle.
The Police would like to encourage the community to take simple precautions to ensure their property remains in safe hands and to focus on removing valuables from the vehicle, make sure the vehicle is secure with all windows and doors locked, ensure the vehicle is parked in a well lit area and where possible a secure location and never leave your keys near a door or somewhere they are easily accessed.
Ms Sewell said take a few extra minutes to ensure that your vehicle and belongings are safe.
The Lock it or Lose it campaign aims to educate and remind members of the community to secure their vehicles to avoid opportunistic thieves.
