Their game on Saturday at Alec Inch Oval was the clash of the two unbeaten sides and Brothers made their intentions known early with a try within five minutes after a clever grubber kick on the sixth tackle to go 6-0 up.
But Town knuckled down and dominated possession for most of the first quarter of the game.
But it took almost half an hour for Town to break through needing a little Allan Heldsinger magic, the half back waltzing the defence to score and converting his own try to lock it up at 6-6.
They crossed again four minutes later and spent the rest of the half camped in the Brothers half as they attempted to build a match-winning lead.
At 12-6 at half time, Brothers were very much in it, though suffering in possession stats.
They broke away to level it up again in 53 minutes but were undone by undiscipline an unnecessary sin binning for backchat on 57 minutes proved costly. Heldsinger got his second try and although the sides swapped one more try each, Heldsinger sealed the win with a late penalty to end matters at 26-18.
In the earlier game Black Stars bear an undermanned Cloncurry 58-6.
The ladder after Round 4 with number game played in brackets Town 6 (3), Brothers 4 (3), Black Stars 4 (4), Cloncurry 2 (3), Wanderers 0 (3).
