The race is a combination of physical and mental challenges and is highly focused on participation, healthy competition and good old fashioned sportsmanship.
The 2019 Superhero Scramble organised by Gecko Outdoor Sports is a challenge which had parents and young ones blowing bubbles, carrying oversized eggs and throwing sponges into Sponge Bob's mouth in an effort to be the first across the finish line.
Organiser Alison Whitehead said other activities included the ninja slackline, hungry hippos and colouring in.
"One thing I always enjoy about the event is seeing how much the kids have grown from the previous year," Whitehead said.
"We have some families that have participated in the event for the last four years, so it is really special."
