Celebrating 40 years, the Cloncurry and District Show is the stuff of tradition, culture, myth and success.
From humble beginnings, the show has earned a well deserved reputation as the biggest and best show in the west.
The anticipated annual event has naturally evolved over the years to respond to the changing needs of the community and nearly everyone is involved either as a competitor, helper or participant.
According to life member and former show steward and Pavilion coordinator Gail Wipaki, the show is still the best in the north-west after 40 years.
"All good memories over the years, there have been so many it's hard to put into words. It's just a good show, a good country show," she said.
With section entries from across the north-west and the state, the Cloncurry show proudly showcases the Region.
It exhibits the best of rural and remote isolated Queenslanders, showing the best and what it truly means to live in Cloncurry, the crossroads to regional and remote Queensland.
For treasurer and former Pavilion coordinator Susan Curley the show means celebrating the district's history, the families that have grown up with show memories and working together to bring an annual community event that highlights what the region has.
"The excitement as a child that the show was here, the rides, the fireworks, the entertainment and having all your family and friends share the same experience with you."
Visitors sample the best of the region from handicraft, cooking and art to trade exhibits, sponsor and local talent displays, giving attendees a colourful picture of life out west.
