Toddler Ruben Scott was last seen late on Tuesday afternoon near the homestead of Koolatah Station, about 100 kilometres east of Kowanyama in Cape York.
Police, SES personnel, rangers and workers from a construction site in Kowanyama have searched today but have not been able to locate the boy.
Officers will retain a presence at the scene this evening and will recommence the search at first light Thursday morning.
Searches are planned on foot, in vehicles and in the air in two private helicopters, two drones and police divers will also assist.
Cape Patrol Inspector Mark Henderson said the boy went missing from a cattle property on Tuesday afternoon.
"We have assets here from from across the Gulf country including rangers from Kowanyama," Inspector Henderson said.
"We are doing all we can to find this young fellow."
Inspector Henderson said it was challenging to search in such remote country and thanked the help of locals.
