Commerce North West has a proud history of serving the region as an active leader and advocate for the commercial, industrial, civic and general interests of North West Queensland.
Originally known as the 'Mount Isa Chamber of Commerce', the group formed to become a proactive force, built on local business members involved in employment issues, regional economic development, government relations, tourism growth and events management for the Mount Isa region.
Jennifer Termine-Toth has had a long standing relationship with Commerce North West becoming a member as a business owner and director, then furthering her commitment as a board member and currently volunteering as vice president on the committee.
"We have a volunteer committee that comprises of nine local business people who make overarching decisions with the Commerce North West members in mind," she said. "Commerce North West contracts a couple of local marketing and events businesses to manage our regular 'member events', as well as manage the larger projects held throughout the year."
Commerce North West provides ongoing unique networking events for its 90 members to meet and make connections with other local business people.
"We provide regular newsletters and updates for our members, noting relevant information and professional development opportunities appealing to Mount Isa and surrounds."
The committee promotes its Buy Local initiative which encourages consumers to spend locally using Buy Local Gift Cards, available for purchase at The Boss Shop and MacRae News. The cards are accepted by several supporting local stores.
Commerce also coordinates several yearly projects specifically aimed at encouraging a healthy economic climate for the region.
These include Northern Outback Business Awards, Minex mining expo, Workpac Best Dressed Premises and the Dragon Boat Regatta Corporate Challenge - in conjunction with the Mount Isa Fishing Classic celebrations.
Commerce North West provides local on the ground member support and is continuously striving to create unique learning and development experiences through networking events and business seminars.
We work hard to promote our region and encourage a flourishing lifestyle, business and tourism industry.
