A rodeo pick up man is fighting for his life in hospital after sustaining critical head injuries in the ring at a North Queensland rodeo on Sunday.

The 25-year-old was working on the second day of the annual Normanton rodeo when the accident happened.
Local Queensland Ambulance Service personnel dealt with the man on the scene before he was taken to local hospital.
He was then flown by Royal Flying Doctor Service to Townsville in a serious condition and taken to Townsville Hospital.
He remains in a stable but critical condition.
Normanton Rodeo secretary Sharon Gallagher told the ABC Monday the accident was "not forseeable" though she acknowledged their work was inherently risky.
