Bradley Dwaine Age pleaded guilty to one charge of unauthorised dealing with shop goods at a local fuel station at Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Monday.
Age was fined $75 for an incident that occurred on January 21 with two Cherry Ripe bars at Coles Express.
The court heard how Age put the chocolates in his pocket and failed to pay the cost of $8.80.
"I must have forgot - I thought I paid for them," Age said.
"Must have put them in my pocket when I got my money out to pay for the fuel."
Police were notified of the incident and attended Age's residence to investigate.
"I wish they (staff) just said something I would have paid for it - I had the money," Age said.
Acting Magistrate Richard Lehmann warned Age to be more careful in the future.
