Davine, was kidnapped, raped and held hostage for two days in hobby farmer Gene Charles Bristow's pig shed on his regional property in 2017.

The 54-year-old man attacked lured Davine to his farm in Meningie, 150km southeast of Adelaide, after he answered a Gumtree advertisement she posted in search of work.

He took her to his shed, checked her arms, legs and feet for signs of drug use before he assaulted her.

"I was struggling and then he put something against my back and I thought it was over," she said behind tears to 60 Minutes on Sunday.

"Then I gave up because he would just shoot me. You don't want to die somewhere, not like that. Not there in the middle of nowhere."

Davine was shackled in chains and told to strip naked.

He threatened to shoot her and told fake stories about police corruption and his involvement in a kidnapping ring.

"I thought, "This is it. I'm not getting out of here. I'm going to die," she said.

But Davine found little hooks in the broken fridge to break free of the shackles and turned on her laptop to send messages online to friends to contact police

Her friend Echo responded to Davine and told police her friend was missing.

Within 10 minutes of police finding out, officers began the search to find her.

Police pulled Bristow over in a routine check but had nothing to hold him.

He raced back to the pig shed, freed Davine and took her to a motel telling her to go home.

Police spotted the backpacker and took her to safety.

Her attacker's son David said his father should "rot in hell"

"When someone in your life has been so normal ... and then this happens, it really blows your mind and just makes you wonder has it happened before?

"He's dead to me."

As for her friend that sparked the police investigation: "She's like a hero for me."

Bristow was sentenced in May to 18 years in jail with a non-parole period of 12 years and six months.
