The nights were cold but gave way to two lovely days in the Isa on Friday and Saturday and a good crowd was on hand on the public holiday show day when I attended.
There were plenty of enjoyable innovations this year as well as the return of old favourites.
It was great to see the Kalkatunga Sundowner dancers kick off the official opening of the show with their colourful songs and dances.
The kids were enthusiastic and executed their steps flawlessly.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch performed the official opening with Ms Pittis.
"The Show is a very old event in Mount Isa and I think it is about 10 or 12 years it shifted from Kalkadoon Park to Buchanan Park," the mayor said.
"But I've got to say, they might have changed venues but they still kept the old ethos of what a show is about."
Cr McCulloch pointed to the terrific amount of entertainment on offer such as the rodeo, the rides and the community showcasing their skills in the pavilion.
"The Show is pulled together by volunteers," she said.
"They spend their own time, their own holidays and a lot of them put a lot of money into the show themselves, we really need to recognise that."
Indeed we do, and the committee can take great pride in their work.
It would have been impossible to be bored at the Show on the weekend, there was plenty to do and take in.
I returned on Saturday night to enjoy some of the PBR and the Rooftop Express half time entertainment and there were plenty of smiles around the ground despite the cold evening.
Congratulations also to Lesley-Ann Peterson for organising the outback prince and princess competition.
The Mount Isa Show has long struggled to find entrants for the Showgirl competition so the Outback prince and princess is a nice alternative.
The kids all looked super-cute and like Lesley, I hope this event goes from strength to strength in the coming years - Derek Barry
