Up-and-coming junior golfers officially launched celebrations on Monday at Roma Golf Club, with juniors hitting the opening tee shots which was followed by a free junior clinic conducted by PGA Members Darren Weatherall and Sam Eaves.
Local Josh Lambert tasted success in the men's 18 hole stableford division finishing the event with 41 points.
"I am looking forward to playing in Charleville this weekend and finishing up the tournament at the million dollar event in Mount Isa (in July)," Lambert said.
On the women's side, Kathy Beck was crowned a dual champion winning the individual event with 35 points (ocb) and teaming up with Scott Thomson to win the team's event with a combined total of 74 points.
The local netball community also got involved with the event, catering and serving delicious food to hungry and appreciative golfers and spectators.
Players and entertainment seekers alike enjoyed music and bush poetry.
Attendees were extremely impressed with the under the stars dining experience and the quality of entertainment provided on Monday night.
Many players are looking forward to continuing their journey through the outback with Charleville hosting the next event this weekend.
