Camooweal Police recently coordinated a four-day multi-agency cross border operation titled Bright Sky, targeting fireworks, heavy vehicle compliance and traffic enforcement.

Police were also educating travellers about the dangers of using ice during their operation.
The agencies involved included officers from Camooweal Station, Avon Downs Station (Northern Territory), Mount Isa Road Policing Unit, Mount Isa CIB, Rockhampton Drug dog squad, and explosive Inspectors.
In four days, officers seized $8,000 worth of fireworks, 40 grams of GLM and two grams of methamphetamine.
The officers also conducted 558 negative Roadside Breath Tests, 23 Roadside Drug Tests and 23 heavy vehicle compliance checks.
In total, five drivers tested positive for drug driving and eight drivers were issued with exceed work hour infringement notices.

Police would like to remind locals and tourists that it is illegal to possess fireworks in Queensland as they are very dangerous and can cause injury.
Police would like to urge all the trucking companies to make sure their drivers are complying with their log book requirements for fatigue management.
There are more operations planned for this year and police urge all motorists please do the right thing.
