Hastings Deering's General Manager-People and External Affairs Vincent Cosgrove said the company set toimprove flexibility and inclusion within its workforce with the initiative and it was a driver for apprenticeship recruitment.
"Companies who build a more inclusive workplace have a serious competitive advantage," Mr Cosgrove said. "They are outperforming their competitors, improving operating efficiencies and driving sustainable growth."
The 75 apprenticeships are for diesel fitters, boilermakers, fitter machinists, auto electricians, electricians, engine reconditioners and mechanical fitters and applications can be made online.
Last year the company was swamped: receiving more than 2000 by the time applications closed. The apprenticeships on offer are across all nine Hastings Deering operations including Brisbane, Toowoomba, Mackay, Rockhampton, Townsville, Cairns, Mount Isa, Darwin and Alice Springs.
"Apprenticeships are for four years with the ability to complete earlier: all apprentices receive a nationally recognised qualification," Mr Cosgrove said.
He said in the last 12 months over 96% of apprentices have transitioned into permanent trade roles since completing their apprenticeships.
"Applicants should be sure to share what life experiences they have and if they are a school leaver include their extra-curricular activities, whether that is sports or helping out a local charity," he said.
Applications close August 5.
