The 1500m classic is the longest camel race in the country as well as one of the wealthiest, earning it the title of the Melbourne Cup of camel racing.
This year Wason took out the prestigious win for local Boulia camel trainers Dannileah Stewart and Ronnie Callope, with Charleville based jockey Tiana Taratoa.
Last time a Boulia team won the 'Melbourne Cup of Camel Races' was 2014 by Tom Woodhouse's camel Uncle Bob.
Uncle Bob came back to win again in 2018 but this time trained by Rod Sansom and the Oakfield Ranch team from Newcastle, New South Wales.
Uncle Bob was heavily backed as one of the favourites to make three in a row with Chontelle Jennese aboard but was pipped into third place by another Sansom-trained camel Dolly running second with Jay Jaksche in the saddle.
As they came around the corner into the straight, Dolly led but it looked as if Uncle Bob was going to show his pedigree and win again before Wason shot through the middle to win the race.
In the Champion Contracting 1000m Bedourie Cup winner Hajime beat Uncle Bob with Flash third.
A crowd of over 5000 witnessed the two days of action in Boulia.
Many were staying on for the two day Outback Golf Masters on Monday and Tuesday.
