Almost $10,000 has been presented to three local recipients to help bolster Mount Isa's arts community, thanks to a round of Council's Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

The recipients - Brian and Chantel Adamson of the North Queensland History Collection ($3605); Mount Isa Entertainment and Tourism Venues ($4672); and Annette Gordon ($1300) - were given their cheques and certificates at a presentation in the Council Chambers on July 25.
North Queensland History Collection will use their funding to make new display peg boards and storage boxes to keep their more than 40,000 historical photographs of Mount Isa safe, and for ease of transport.
The peg boards will be used to create large exhibitions of the photographs to showcase Mount Isa's progress as a city.
Mr Adamson, who has been collecting the photos for more than 30 years, is also hoping to have historical photographic displays at the Mount Isa Show and the Mount Isa City Library in the future.
"I've got enough photographs that if I had a gallery, I could change the exhibition every month," he said.
"I've got photographs that people haven't seen that I've collected over the years, and I want to put them out for an exhibition so that people can actually see them.
"The RADF funding is a big help and means a lot to us."
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said the work the Adamsons did was very important, as it helped to preserve Mount Isa's history.
"We recognise the passion and commitment that Brian and Chantel have and appreciate everything they do for the history of Mount Isa," Cr McCulloch said.
"They are very instrumental in not just keeping the history of Mount Isa, but also educating people of where Mount Isa has come and where it is now."
Mount Isa Entertainment and Tourism Venues' (MIETV) funds will be used to hold a series of workshops, as well as an exhibition, in October at Outback at Isa by renowned Indigenous artist Chern'ee Sutton.
"We're very fortunate that Chern'ee and her sister, Brooke, had offered to bring their artworks up here, so we jumped on that opportunity with our newly revamped Mount Isa Regional Art Gallery," MIETV Business Manager Donna Olivero said.
"The funding will go towards assisting us to facilitate that workshop."
Annette Gordon will use her funding for self-development by attending various training sessions at the Channel Country Women's Day event and bring the skills and knowledge she gains from the event back with her to share with other Mount Isa artists.
"I am interested in how you address cultural development in regional areas, especially really remote regional areas," she said.
Cr McCulloch thanked all of the recipients for submitting excellent applications.
