On Tuesday July 30, officers from the Mount Isa Criminal Investigation Branch, State Flying Squad and Normanton Station executed a number of search warrants, targeting drug and weapon offences.
At 10am, police executed a search warrant in Matilda St and seized a used homemade water pipe, a beer can containing a capped used syringe with a yellow coloured liquid and a cannabis plant.
A 30-year-old Normanton man has been charged with one count each of producing dangerous drugs, possess utensil and fail to properly dispose of needle and syringe.
Police also executed a search warrant in Ellis St, where they located a leather pouch in the centre console of a vehicle. Inside they found two clip seal bags containing white crystals believed to be crystal methamphetamine, a used glass pipe and cut up plastic straws.
A 28-year-old Normanton man has been charged with one count each of possess dangerous drugs and possess utensil.
Both men are due to appear in the Normanton Magistrates Court on August 12.
On Wednesday July 31, officers executed a number of search warrants in Karumba.
At 9.15am, a search warrant was executed on a fishing vessel in the Norman River. Police said they located and seized oxycodone and diazepam tablets, with no labelled boxes or prescriptions located.
Also found, a plastic device with two metal prongs protruding from the end, appearing to be a 'stun gun'.
At 9.30am at Yappar St, police seized a clip seal bag containing white crystals believed to be crystal methamphetamine, a glass pipe, a small quantity of green leafy material believed to be cannabis and a beer can with used needles and syringes.
At around 11am, a search warrant was executed on a Carron Street address. It is alleged police located and seized a cannabis plant and a set of electric scales.
A 57-year-old Karumba man has been charged with three counts of possess dangerous drug, two counts of possess utensil and one count of producing dangerous drugs.
A 39-year-old Karumba man was charged with one count each of possess dangerous drug, unlawful possession of category R weapon and authority required to possess explosives.
A 35-year-old Karumba man has been charged with fail to take reasonable care and precautions in respect of syringe or needle.
All men will appear in the Normanton Magistrates Court on October 8.
