The action was fast and furious on the first full day of the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo on Friday.
Cloncurry Cowgirl Brandee Ferguson in her final year as a Junior picked up a buckle in the junior barrel race.
Ferguson furthered her cowgirl skills in the US in the last 12 months and those skills were on display as this talented young Cowgirl on board 'Raven' stopped the clock in 17.192 secs to have the fastest qualifying round.
Then in front of a huge Friday night crowd she finished with the second fastest final time marking a 17.057 sec run for an aggregate 34.249 secs to win the title ahead of Coben Ayres on board 'Leroy' in 34.335 secs and Ellie Gard who placed third in 34.442 secs on her horse 'Pebbles'.
The op shop barrel race and superhero bronc rides were also crowdpleasers on day 1.
The night ended with Oakwood rocking the Wardles Main Stage before lead act Birds of Tokyo wowed in the first of the Rodeo Rock concerts.
