An assisted dying advocate is calling for changes to Queensland law after an inquiry that held hearings in Mount Isa and across the state.

Tanya Battel lives with Stage IV incurable metastatic breast cancer and is a lobbyist for Voluntary Assisted Dying Legislation in Queensland.
She said the Mount Isa public hearing on the matters of aged care, end-of-life and palliative care and voluntary assisted dying in May.was an important time to listen.
"It was an opportunity for locals to share with the committee thoughts and experiences on these issues." Ms Battel said.
Ms Battel said now was the time for Queensland to pass legislation on the matter.
"I believe that with community support at 85%, that is not indicative of a community that is bitterly divided and I call for the Queensland Premier to give this matter urgent attention and to draft, table and legislate before the state election in 2020," she said.
Recently, the Australian state of Victoria became the first to pass legislation for euthanasia and now there is a push for Queensland to do the same.
Ms Battel and fellow advocate Fiona Jacobs have started a petition on euthanasia to be delivered to the Premier on November 30, 2019.
It calls for the government to draft Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation before the state election in 2020.
A recent poll conducted by 'A Current Affair', drew 30,200 votes with the outcome showing 92% support for Voluntary Assisted Dying Legislation.
