Passenger numbers at Mount Isa Airport grew by 5 per cent in the past financial year as the resources sector continues to rebound in Queensland's north west.

Final results for the 2019 financial year show 205,682 passengers passed through the gates at Mount Isa Airport.
Queensland Airports Limited CEO Chris Mills said the strong result came at a time when demand had been soft elsewhere.
"Passenger growth was recorded for 16 of the past 18 months," Mr Mills said.
"The increase in passenger numbers has been driven by high loads on the Brisbane-Mount Isa route, and additional capacity added on our regional routes. The last time passenger numbers reached these levels was the 2014/15 financial year."
Mr Mills said it was a reflection on the regions resources sector.
"The results are certainly reflective of increasing activity in the resources sector, which is a positive sign for the region and comes at a time when passenger demand has been flat in other regions across Australia during the year." Mr Mills said.
Tourism is also a factor with August - Rodeo time - recording the highest monthly figure of 19,631 passengers.
QAL also operate the Gold Coast, Townsville and Longreach airports.
