The ceremony will be conducted at the Cenotaph on the lawns outside of the Civic Centre on West Street.
The morning will include a wreath-laying ceremony.
Those who will be laying a wreath are asked to speak to the MC before the ceremony begins, to confirm their attendance and to ensure their name is called before their wreath is placed. They can also email events@mountisa.qld.gov.au before 12 noon on Friday August 16.
Following the service, all attendees are invited to enjoy refreshments at the Buffs Club.
Vietnam Veterans Day, originally known as Long Tan Day, is commemorated on August 18 every year and honours the men of Delta Company, 6th Battalion, RAR who fought in the Battle of Long Tan in 1966 in which 18 Australians lost their lives and another 24 were injured.
In acknowledging Vietnam Veterans Day, we remember the sacrifices made by young Australian men and women in a conflict that spanned a decade, the longest war in which Australians have participated.
