Monday August 19 marks the opening of nominations for the 2019 Jemena Northern Outback Business Awards; an annual gala event honouring excellence in business from across the region.

Hosted by Mount Isa's Commerce North West; an organisation devoted to fostering and strengthening business and industry, the 2019 event will be held on Saturday November 9 with revised award categories already attracting positive feedback.
The regions night-of-nights when it comes to recognising success in business; the Northern Outback Business Awards previously encompassed close to 30 award categories; in 2019 this has been revised to 12, bringing the event in line with similar champion awards programs of national significance.
Also introducing cash prizes for business-based awards for the first time, nominations are expected to be significant this year "with many of the regions businesses reporting and experiencing significant growth in the past 12-months," said Commerce North West President Travis Crowther.
"From downturns in industry from years past; the regions business sector is once again prospering.
"While aspects such as staffing are still a little tricky, a number of businesses have some really significant growth and innovative products and services to show off.
"The Business Awards are an excellent platform for recognising such success and growth, and we really encourage people to get involved by nominating and then attending the function."
Business based categories for the 2019 Jemena Northern Outback Business Awards include Rising Star (5 or Less Employees or More than 5 Employees), Small and Successful, Medium Mover, Social Change Maker, Workplace of Choice, Hall of Fame and Business of the Year.
Categories recognising individual excellence in customer service include Customer Service Hero Community Sector, Customer Service Hero Trades & Skilled Sector and Customer Service Hero Retail & Service Sector.
New to 2019 will also be a People's Choice category; an award voted on by the public with all nominated businesses eligible for voting once nominations close.
With nominations and subsequent submissions for business categories now all completed on a seamless online portal, links, eligibility criteria and more can be accessed via the Commerce North West website commercenorthwest.com.au.
Nominations for the 2019 Jemena Northern Outback Business Awards will close October 4 and submissions will be due October 18, with public and self-nominations accepted.
