Parkside A made a large late season statement defeating Atlas 2-0 to now place them equal first and just one goal difference behind Atlas.
Senior Parkside A player Jason Howard said his side stepped up for such a big game.
"Winning that game was huge as it puts us equal first with Atlas, the only difference now is one goal between us." Howard said.
"It was a team effort across the whole park for us, taking the ball out wide allowed us to free up more space."
Howard said shutting down key Atlas players was critical to the win.
"We dominated most of the game, it was one of the better games we played all year," he said.
"We pushed the ball around really well and kept out Andrew Frahm who is the current leading goal scorer of the competition".
Shutting down Andrew Frahm was indeed a key factor as the Atlas striker has put the ball in the back of the net now 32 times which is 13 more than the next player Mathew Walker.
In other games fourth placed Isaroos went down to third placed Sandfire Bulls in a high-scoring 6-3 contest.
The final game of round 17 saw bottom placed Parkside B draw with Concordia 4-4.
Next weeks final round of games will determine who wins the minor premiership.
