Previously held at Fountain Springs it now moves to the bike trails near Lake Moondarra on Sunday September 22.
The MTB classic is the premier event of the year for mountain bike enthusiasts and consists of a 65km trail for more experienced and serious competitors and a 20km trail for those new to the sport and social riders.
Junior competitors from as young as five years are also encouraged to bring their bikes out and have a go on the two km course.
Member of MTB Stack City Fenwick Dudley said it was time to have the event closer to town.
"To be honest we got tired of travelling around for the race so we decided to host it here in Mount Isa," Mr Dudley said.
Mr Dudley also said the day was split up into several categories.
"The day starts at 7am sharp at Lake Moondarra Road for riders briefing," Mr Dudley said.
"Then we have the Open Men and Women 18+ 50km Race and Open Men and Women electronic bike 18+ 50km Race where both are $95 Incl. MTBA," Mr Dudley said.
"We also have the Open Men and Women 18+ 25km Race, as well as the Open Men and Women electronic bike 18+ 25km Race which is $75 Including everything.
"The final race we have is the Junior Race Boy and Girl 13 - 18 Years 15km which is a total of $40 and the MTBA day license race entry is cheaper if you are already a MTBA member," Mr Dudley said.
Mr Dudley finished with happy news at the finish line.
"Once you finish the good news is there will be a barbecue and drinks waiting for you," Mr Dudley said.
