Promoting his newly released single "If You're Sleeping", Mick Lindsay will host an intimate acoustic performance at the Mount Isa Irish Club on November 9.
Mick is no stranger to the North West having played many gigs in Mount Isa over the years.
"I headlined at the Isa Rodeo in 2016 and played a few different events, but this will be my very first ticketed show in Mount Isa." he said.
"It has been a couple of years since I have played there, so hoping there will be a good turn out."
Mick said attendees could expect an acoustic setting with an element of surprise.
"I have always played with a band when I travel, but this is going to be a solo acoustic tour. However its not just going to be a voice and a guitar, I still have a few tricks including a stop-box, tambourine and loop pedals," he said.
"This performance is going to be a lot more intimate where you can stop chat, take requests and connect with the audience."
Mick stepped into national spotlight in 2016 with a ground-breaking new sound for the EP "This Song", which on release, charted as #1 on the Australian iTunes charts, and sky-rocketed to #5 on the ARIAS. Since then he has toured extensively, with performances throughout Australia, Asia, Europe.
Mick said despite his already flourishing career he had always wanted to host a national tour.
"I have always wanted to do it ever since I started music," he said.
"Drop into every small town around the country and we are finally getting the chance to do that in 2019 which I am excited about.
"I have been performing in regional towns like Mount Isa my whole life, there is always a different appreciation when you come through regional towns. There is always so much happening in capital cities, but when you take the time to stop in at smaller towns all the locals come out and it's a big thing."
Mick said he was excited to perform some of his new music and connect with the audience.
"A lot of the songs that I write and record are relevant to my life and everyone goes through similar stuff.
"My new single "If You're Sleeping" is about being away from home and missing someone, wanting them to call, and wanting to call them but afraid they would be sleeping. it's the experience of different time zones.
"There are also a lot of stories about love, heartache, girls and that sort of stuff that people can relate to on different levels."
Mick explained his genre of music as "Nashville-Country" which is becoming a modern sound within the industry.
"It is kind of like a mix between country, pop and rock," he said.
"I released an EP a little ahead of its time and it didn't really take off because it was a bit too new sounding for country music, but now the sound is accepted. It's the type of music that I love to listen too and admittedly it's not country-western that traditional country music was built on and it's a bit modern.
"There is a lot of interest in that Nashville sound even among Australian artists. I think it's a cool thing that Australian artists are wanting to step up to that level of quality and match the sounds, but still be produced by Australians.
"There are a lot of up-and-coming artists and established artists who are moving towards that Nashville sound even Lee Kernaghan and the Wolfe Brothers who were very Aussie sounding are now finding that Nashville influence."
Mick Lindsay will perform at the Mount Isa Irish Club on November 9 at 7pm. Tickets are $21.45 at Oxtix website.
