A 16-year-old Mount Isa boy is in a serious condition in a Townsville hospital after he ran into the path of a vehicle during a brawl on Friday night (September 6).

The boy was part of a family disturbance of more than 40-50 people on Able Smith Parade, which saw several individual fights occur.
During the incident the boy ran into a passing vehicle and the driver did not remain at the scene.
Superintendent of Mount Isa police district Glen Pointing said the vehicle ws seized and investigations were continuing.
"Police will investigate the disturbance and consider laying charges against persons involved," Superintendent Pointing said.
"Police have been working with the families involved in an attempt to help them resolve their issues peacefully.
"Police will continue to work with these families to find a resolution to the matter."
