Channel Seven's relationship series returns for its third season and has released a sneak peek of a forbidden love story of a former Mount Isa couple, Codie-Lea, 21, and Nathan Bereyne, 25.
Now residing on the Gold Coast, Codie-Lea and Nathan share a daughter and enjoy life by the sea but went on the show after conflicting issues with Nathan's mother Laurelle.
The Bride & Prejudice preview states Laurelle can't stand Codie-Lea and believes she's taken her son and granddaughter away from her.
"Laurelle thinks Codie-Lea's a "plastic barbie" and is adamant her son shouldn't marry her.
"Laurelle has never clicked with Codie-Lea. She thinks she's fake. Things went from bad to worse when Codie-Lea and Nathan had their daughter as Codie-Lea and Laurelle would constantly clash over parenting methods."
Channel Seven also stated that tensions had escalated.
"Nathan and Codie-Lea haven't spoken to Laurelle in over a year. But Nathan would like to mend the relationship and would love to have his mother at his wedding," Channel Seven said.
"Nathan's mum Laurelle on Codie: "Codie is a plastic barbie girl and I don't think she's human. Everything about her is false. Fake boobs, fake hair, fake eyelashes, fake lips. Codie has taken my son and my granddaughter away. I hate her guts."
This is not the only former Mount Isa couple who has entered in the show, following in the footsteps of Melissa and Aalden Pennington who featured in season two.
Bride & Prejudice: The Forbidden Weddings features five couples each desperate to marry the love of their life, but their families don't approve.
In a bid to fix their fractured families, all couples stay together at a retreat and take part in intense therapy guided by family therapist and relationship expert Leanne Hall.
During therapy, the couples and their families come face-to-face with the issues that have ignited tension and deal with the fallout of emotional and honest confrontations.
