Superhero Scramble will bring families together at Mary Kathleen Park on Sunday September 15, testing parent and child teams at 10 mysterious challenges.
Children aged six to 12 are to complete the course with an adult; could be mum, dad, grandparent, auntie, uncle, older brother or sister in a rare series of challenges.
Gecko Outdoor Sports event organiser Alison Whitehead said the mysterious challenges would test both parent and child.
"Generally teams get a heads up on one or two of the challenges so they'll have some idea, which will create a bit of fun homework to do," Ms Whitehead said.
"This event enables the parents to do something other then yelling at the kids to get out of bed and get ready for school. It's a rare event that you can compete with your children and it creates team bonding."
But don't think the young children miss out!
For children under the age of five Superhero Scramble will host Superhero Squirts. Which will compile a 15 minute curtain raiser course before the main event.
"Squirts have lots of different activities and will get to cross the finish line and receive a medallion," Ms Whitehead said.
Superhero Scramble has been held in Mount Isa for the past three years and usually sees 50-70 teams and will make its inaugural appearance in Cloncurry for the Beat The Heat Festival.
"This event brings the community together to mix with a variety of people.
"Some of the challenges teams have to wait for more teams to join them to complete, so it's not always about winning.
"It's just about getting out there and having a lot of fun and allowing people to realise that exercise can be fun and it doesn't have to be regimented."
Ms Whitehead said participants could dress up in the theme 'Superheros' to make the event even more exciting.
"All our volunteers will be dressed up in their superhero outfits and it would be great to see teams dressed up too, however its not a requirement."
Teams are required to register for the Cloncurry Superhero Scramble by Thursday September 12 through the Gecko Outdoor Sports Facebook page (there is a possibility of accepting late nominations).
