The Trail is the 25 km of dirt road from the Barkly Hwy, 60km east of Mount Isa to Fountain Springs.
With the increasing numbers of tourists visiting the area we felt it was time for a clean-up.
We loaded up a trailer as we made our way along the track.
The volunteers picked up all the old truck tyres and the occasional drink container.
Most of the truck tyres had laid baking in the sun beside this road for decades.
Landcarers enjoy going out bush together with a purpose.
We also enjoy the natural scenery, and like to socialize with friends.
This activity was combined with a night's camp out and lamb roast dinner.
Then along the way the group visited a couple heritage sites to learn something of our mining history.
Thanks to Gary and Wendy Baker for helping with the catering.
Thanks to Peter Gosch and family for coming on this adventure and helping out.
Also our tireless landcare committee members Jessie Osborn and Paul Johnson.
Thanks to Mount Isa City Council for allowing us to drop off the old tyres at their waste facility.
President, Mount Isa Landcare Group.
