He is running for Mayor of Mount Isa in the upcoming election in March 2020 after running third in the last election behind eventual winner Joyce McCulloch and Kim Coghlan.
The local of 12 years said he is fed up with Mount Isa's political climate and believes he holds the answers.
Mr Fletcher said he wants to stand up for the community during tough times.
'There is a crying need for some to address the important issues here and I thought instead of doing nothing why don't I have a crack at it and fix it myself," Mr Fletcher said.
Mr Fletcher said his team were going "back to basics" with their approach to the election with lots of face-to-face grassroots politics.
Having gained 9.2% of the vote in the 2016 election he said he was feeling more confident this time round.
"Last time we didn't have a lot of time or money, this time around we are much more prepared and have almost the same team as last time," Mr Fletcher said.
When pressed on Mount Isa's biggest issues Mr Fletcher highlighted water rates and youth crime.
"The biggest issue is the water rates, people are frighten to turn the tap on," he said.
"I'm curious as to why the current council aren't standing up for locals when it comes the increasing water rates.
"The other major issue is petty crime but we want to engage with the youth and create diversionary plans to keep them off the street at night, the new Youth Zone is a good example of that."
He said Locals United's vision is broken down into four categories: infrastructure, community strengthening, business development and service delivery.
