Over 1000 tickets have already been sold for the Spring Cup in what looks set to be a day filled with fun, punts and fashions.
This weekends races at Buchanan Park also has live entertainment, fashions on the field and plenty of food and drink.
President of Mount Isa Race Club Mick Tully said this year the Mount Isa Spring Cup is an open handicap as part of the country cup challenge which is a new initiative to allow bush horses the chance to compete in Brisbane.
"There's a total of 47 nominations overs the five races so they are fantastic fields," Mr Tully said.
"This time of the year all the races are competitive since the horses have been racing all year."
Mr Tully said the main race of the Spring Cup is only six horses but they are all smart so it should be a close race.
"Deadly Choices is coming off two great wins in Julia Creek and Mount Isa so he could be one to watch out for."
The 1450m dash will see the winner take home $20,000 in prize money.
Deadly Choices is the favourite but not by much with Snippy Strategic, King Solomon, Kapset, Recalculate and Rock Tsar having a competitive chance to win.
Gates will open at 11am before the first race jumps at 2pm.
