An initiative to address youth crime in Mount Isa is already paying off, with a new 24/7 hub connecting at-risk youth with support and services and helping drive down youth crime rates.

The Mount Isa Transitional Hub can be found at the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish.
Transitional Hub program's director Vincent Bin Dol said the hub has been open since June and has led to great changes in the community.
"The idea behind the hub is to keep kids off the streets where they might commit an opportunistic crime," Mr Bin Dol said.
"The feedback from police has been great, even taxi drivers have said they noticed fewer kids roaming the streets.
"Several parents have phoned in and said keep up the great work as they have seen a positive change in their child."
The hub has 15 staff and is open from 2pm to 10pm seven days a week.
"On average we get about 45 kids come to see us each and every week," Mr Bin Dol said.
"We play golf, ten pin bowling, gaming and even go to the cinema, and of course anyone is welcome."
The hub is part of a $332.5 million youth justice reforms investment package from the Queensland Government aimed at keeping communities safe while steering at-risk young people away from crime.
